Youth Challenge Course

The YCC is developed especially for youths who are transitioning between secondary/high school or pre-university and the next stage of their life.  The course comprises 120 hours of activities that include group and solo camping, trekking, height element rope activity and water-based challenges.  These activities allow participants to explore, analyse and determine options available to them through reflection, reviewing, debriefing and goal setting.  The experiences from the course will condition participants to be mentally prepared, focused and adaptable to face the challenges of adulthood and working life.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Motivate themselves to achieve their goals by displaying self-discipline, emotional control, resilience and tenacity leading to an improvement of self-confidence
  • Recognise their potential to go beyond self-imposed limits
  • Cope with and manage change more effectively to adapt to any given situation
  • Work better in a team, whether as a member or as a leader, and display a greater degree of social awareness in order to achieve set goals
  • Achieve physical fitness and display courage, resilience and competence while participating in adventure-based activities including those involving trekking, camping, height challenges and water-based crafts
